Kettle
Kettle Painting marks the beginning of my heartfelt journey to bridge two worlds: my homeland of Nepal and my new life in the USA. Through this piece, I carried a fragment of my roots across continents, using the traditional Nepali kettle, a staple in homes and street corners alike. The kettle is a symbol of warmth, memory, and belonging.
In Nepal, kettles are central to tea culture, used to brew large batches of spiced tea infused with cloves, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, and bay leaves. The rising steam carries a scent that stirs deep nostalgia for many South Asians who have left home, evoking the comfort of familiar mornings and shared conversations.
This painting also marks the start of a larger series honoring Nepal’s rich heritage and everyday beauty. Each brushstroke speaks to the textures of tradition, the rhythm of domestic life, and the spirit of community that defines Nepali culture. Kettle Painting stands not only as a personal tribute but also as an invitation for others to reconnect with the warmth and simplicity of Nepalese heritage.
